further, why an alternate timeline, id think they came from an alternate universe, due to so many iterations of one person (ie: us) being in one planet causing the fabric BETWEEN different spacetimes to dissipate, and as long as history doesnt suddenly f up, were fine (so dont go aback in time, cause a paradox, and kill the new universe, while were in there, and we are fine)
