Post BB1 TL Notes (spoilers)
I'm not going to pay a great deal of attention to the official romanizations for their names, mainly because they're crazy but also because they keep changing the spelling. Softhouse Chara doesn't even spell "Bunny Black" consistently (sometimes it's Banny Black). They spell demon Daemon, and say that "Darks" is "Forzelotte's Sarvant." And note that according to BB2's OP, his name is Dirks, which doesn't even make sense given the kana.

The Gunguskar Company is a recurring thing through Softhouse Chara games (like Rosenqueen for N-1 games). I believe that it originated in with a vampire named Sylvia Gunguskar.
http://shchara.co.jp/04develop/alf/chara.htm#シルビア
The takeaway there is that it's a proper name, not a wacky sound effect or something like that. If it was, I'd translate it as something wacky instead. Alas.
I believe that they're also all demons/vampires of one sort or another, but don't quote me on that. In SuzuD, they're an entire battalion (it's -a thing- that they're very regimental when doing official work) of succubus/vampire maids.

Post Re: TL Notes
Most (All?) of the sex scenes are duplicated in the scripts, one for the game, one for the replays.

More of an editing note really. If you change something, make sure you make an identical change in both files. DO NOT just copy paste the scripts between the two because there are some script commands (backgrounds and music) that are formatted in different ways between the two.

Also, what counts as a sex scene may or may not contain any actual sex. You should be grepping to find corrections anyway, just remember that a bunch of 'sex' scenes only reference it without actually showing any. ...And a number of important scenes with zero sex whatsoever also get to go in the replay gallery.

Shia Room (because all the sex scenes are listed one after another in a file called "room")

It's not that subtle, but since there's so much splitting it, it can be hard to miss when playing grindathon normally. The stinger at the end of each mini scenelet about "continuing to have sex with her" gradually goes from rougher to more loving as the scenes progress. So do the scenes in general, but that's definitely a more formulaic thing.

Fun facts/Connections to other SHChara games:
(I'm not an expert, this just comes from Google and wikis I've looked at during the course of translating.)

"The Ambition of the Cress (family)" is a recurring thing throughout the games as books or movies.

Whitney the baker is a pseudo cameo in a number of games. I'm calling them male because... why not? I don't believe anybody's ever seen them. They're just someone famous always wandering around in the background. Like Aifried the Pirate in the Tales series.

During one of the many slice of life Shia scenes, Darx tells her to buy abalone and mushrooms.

I'm not changing anything, but I don't think many people will understand the joke, so this is mainly to point out that I do.

Google image them and use your imagination.

I'm ramping up Cuvar's flamboyance and making him extra Spanish. He uses a mixture of English and Spanish to begin with, which I'm just switching to all Spanish. I think normally, I'd go for foppish French, but he does use Spanish in there, so let's just go with a kind of wannabe Don Juan.

I know someone on the internet will throw a tantrum because I didn't leave オーッ、シット!! as it is and I don't care.

Post Re: TL Notes
I'm going pretty fast and loose with gameplay things and monster names, as really any localization of any RPG should. For example, Kateria is a サキュー (Succu). Obviously, that's short for succubus, but leaving it like that is dumb and stupid. The pigmen things are called Buubuus (the sound pigs make, so it'd be oinkoinks), etc. At the same time, there's also a lot of puns. Maids, for example, are 冥土さん, which means something like Miss Hell (meido = hell), but is a homophone for Maid. Some are... less comprehensible. Like in one of the bonus scenes, Darx says that he thought that フライングカーグ (Flying Karg) was supposed to be a joke off "carp" (with the joke of that scene being that it makes all kinds of excuses about not being a carp but actually is). I really REALLY doubt I'll understand all of them, but will be giving most punnish species anyway. Some puns, like "Steak Body" for minotaurs, will more likely end up depunned.

The default names and class ARE different, so they could be split, but since hiring multiple just numbers them by 'name', and the name is what's displayed in battle for enemies, that would be... dumb.

Ekate's book is generally referred to as a proper noun, but they just call it Devil's Tome. I'm choosing to just paper over that and refer to it not as a proper noun, but as 'her book' or similar.

I'm renaming a minor character. ドーラミーア (Dohramia) is a ドーラ (dohra). The name comes from ドーラン (dohran), which is... sort of a borrowed German word. It means greasepaint (she's a slime), but it comes from a German company, not a German word, so a transliteration would completely lose the meaning anyway.

Besides, nobody says her name but Darx anyway, and it's only in three scenes, so nobody would even notice unless they bothered looking it up in the original regardless.

モンエイのキィ (Monei no Ki) is a pun. 門衛 (Monei) means gatekeeper, but it's really just a pun off モンキー (monkey). Ki means, uh... key. Monei is his race, Key is his name. Ugh. ANYWAY. Yeah, it's a thing.

There's also a slight abnormality in the line he introduces himself. The nametag is just Monei, but the previous one was "Demon At Destination" and all after that are "Monei no Ki". Just ignoring it.

I don't understand how the recruit scripts work. There seems to be some overlap between special ones (introductory it seems like) and the generic. All possible classes appear in the generic version, while only one class appears per other recruitment script, but there's only a few of the latter version. The terminology they use also doesn't match up to the names they use in the H scenes. I'll see if I can fix/address it, but be on the look out for consistency issues.

銅魔 basically means "Copper demon" although 魔 is more often an adjective meaning more magical or demonic. In this case though, it's explicitly said to refer to a race of demons. Bueroza are "steel devils" in AD&D. That's as good as anything I can think of.

So... they describe Aleshia's breasts as tiny, but in the CGs, they're definitely not.

I... guess I'll just translate it like it says? Just noting that it's dumb.

Post Re: TL Notes
With a few exceptions, which are almost entirely gameplay related, scripts are internally grouped by either character (hh) or plot arc (ev). For example, hh0500 are Ekate's events from basically start of game to end. hh07* are Forze's events from post-revival on. ev06* are all of Aleshia's events, ev08* are all of Tatsumaki's events. I THINK that hh are all optional events, which may or may not be triggered, while ev are mandatory to advance the plot.
Generally speaking, the ev events are more tightly grouped together and aside from the game stuff (like recruitment or shop messages) I believe they start at 100 and go straight through to the end. hh events are more interspersed throughout the game.

I already mentioned monster species, but same goes for pretty much everything gameplay related.
Like Kamidori, I'm not going to translate the item descriptions. I'm going to make stuff up. You're missing such enthralling descriptions as:

兵士の剣
兵士達が持つ剣。|質は良い。

Soldier's Sword
The sword soldiers have.|Good quality. (| is in-engine linebreak)

堕天使の槍
堕天使が使っていたとされる槍。

Fallen Angel's Spear
A spear said to be used by a fallen angel.

Skills are likewise getting pretty much completely renamed, although that's completely unavoidable since there's no way whatsoever they can fit in the allowable space. Still, most are not so much skill names as summary of what they do, like "Combat Support / Horizontal" or "Combat Defense / Vertical." No, 戦闘防御/横 seriously. The effects are then further explicitly spelled out in the unit info screen. REDUNDANCY!

-ko is generally the suffix for small, girly things, like girls. That's why Darx calls the little Forzelotte Kozelotte. Cozelotte looks better to me regardless, so I just changed a line or two to it being because she's cute instead of she's small.

And his daughter is spelled コゼロット instead of コゼロッテ, so it is meant to be pronounced slightly differently but well, one part can't think of a good way to make it work in that way, and one part just kind of not caring. Since Koze looks better than Coze (her nickname in later games), I'll just reflect the change by putting a K in there. There's certainly an argument to be made that the -lotte part should be romanized differently since it's different from Forzelotte's, but whatever.

During the final confrontation with Cuvar, he drops a lot of the... weirdness... and defaults to a much more overall masculine speaking tone in general. eg swapping out boku for kono ore.

No pronunciation is given for the third in-game porn book girl's name. Well, the girl in the third and the guy in the first. Nobody ever says their names either. Kenta is a pretty safe bet for 憲太 though, and Akari Yumi for 紅林優美, although it could be a number of things. The girls in both 1 and 2 have their names written in kana. The 'guy' in three has no name. And doesn't exist. But whatever.

Bonus scenes.

I'm aware that what Shia says regarding virgins being unable to orgasm is wrong, and it's weird for a scene dispelling the myths about sex, but... eh.

The pickling scene, this is what they're talking about.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nukazuke

Dungeon Master Meryl's scene
She's changing the particle at the end. Don't care. Think of it as enunciation difference... which is basically what it is.

The fish thing is a kind of Japanesey thing. They have a specific word for fish whose name changes as they age. Since that's not a thing in English, I'm changing it a little bit to be like class changes.
ツバス、ハマチ、メジロ、ブリ。
ハク、オボコ、スバシリ、イナ、ボラ、トド。
Yeah, that ain't happening.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The treasure opening text.

It's made up of 222 preset sentence fragments which are then put together god only knows how. This is just going to be a total mess, so anybody who complains about translation accuracy in them gets a boot to the face.

Post Re: TL Notes
There are some weird things in the skills in the original. The basic spells (single, colum, row) have a similar kind of evolving name progression as the weapon skills do, complete with a "Next Skill" type thing shown, but the spell names are the same for multiple levels. I'm just going to change that since it makes no sense to me. The top level (all-effect) spells are NOT like that, and each version had a different name to begin with.

I'm also changing the way I'm handling skills vs the actual SKILL they grant. Originally, the USABLE skill name (first level if multiple) and the parent SKILL are the same, but that's kind of weird when most of the usable combat skills change names as they go. I'm going to change that so it's more like a category or attribute for the skill(s) which give access to a different usable skill.

Monster skills are also all like this 斬撃攻撃/単, 斬撃攻撃/前, 強斬撃攻撃/単, 斬撃攻撃/毒 etc. They all do have a description, although since it contains フレーバーテキスト ("Flavor Text"), I'm 99.99% sure they can't be viewed in any way. Since they're massively shared among hireables and enemies, there's no decent way to individualize them, so they need to be kind of generic and descriptive in a similar way to the original's boring and lame... uh... description in lieu of a skill name.

Note also that I don't really care much about consistency here between this and the sequels. The skill/item/equippables system is completely redone in 2 regardless and yada yada RPG power creep, whatever. I'm just going to be doing the skills/items fresh. Monsters will be kept fairly consistent barring fixing any errors or the like though, but it does bear saying that palette swaps have mostly identical names in BB1, but have different names in BB2+, so there'll probably be some changes/drift because of that if nothing else.

---

斬撃攻撃恐怖 (attack ID) is misnamed as 斬撃攻撃/萎縮 (causes wither). Fixing. (Happens for bludgeon/range type attacks too)

Celestine and Iel are heroines from Wizard's Climber. Suigen and Yogatsu are both ninja clans from Shinobi Ryuu.

I honestly have no idea if these units are actually in the game, or where/how they are if they are, but they're in the Unit file and have sprites!

Edit: Checking Japanese sites, they knew about Celes and Iel, but nobody knows any way to access them. The ninjas are recruitables though.

Related, there are a bunch of sprites and definitions for other characters that I'm 99% sure are never used, including but not limited to Forze, child-ver Forze, Golan, Tojo, and (regular) Cuvar.
EDIT: Actually, most of the friendlies are used as the bosses for the special demon dungeon. I expect Forze vs child Forze is determined by story events. Perhaps Cuvar is also part of it if you go before his events start.

It's also not obvious, but you can recruit the female human generic NPCs. You just need to capture an absurd number of them. Likewise, despite what it says, the prison scenes are really just triggered by defeating tons of each type. At least according to the Jap wikis. Apparently the last patch changed the way that worked in some way though.

The 範囲 (AoE) thing on skills? It's supposed to have three different possibilities, 単一の対象, 対象とその周囲, and 範囲全体. However, only the first is used. For ALL OF THEM.

I think they forgot that you always select one unit/square when you use a skill and hooked it into that routine. I'm just going to blank it out entirely. The correct information about the AoE's at the bottom anyway.

The appraisal skill has some really weird targeting values in its description, but those are variables are sentence chunks shared between basically all skills, so I can only imagine it's just that the internal implementation of the skill is really weird. I have no idea how to fix it and would probably break it if I tried.

EDIT:
Belay that. I corrupted its data accidentally. It's fine now.
...Probably should've tested that when I saw it.
