I've checked and haven't seen an answer to this but is there a way to quickly gather a lot of materials for these quests?

In particular the amount of string to collect seems to take too long. Is there something I am missing to gather this quickly?

For Quest 140, I've tried saving and going back once I learn of the quest, but with the string need (30 of each kind to make 10 cloths of each kind) I run into the problem of having 3/4 of the required string of what is needed hitting the 30 day mark. At that time it almost forces me to go back home and pay the bills, which triggers the quest and then end up lacking enough time to gather the rest of the string because of the slow way it is being gathered.

I'll try going back further but if there is another way too that would be wonderful.

For chapters 7 & 8, regarding the append quests which most are time-limited and linked to each other, I just gathered the materials before starting any of the quest chains.
Only danger is accidentally triggering a chain, best is to save at the very beginning of ch.7 and go over your inventory and the quest lists for those two chapters...

I'm kind of surprised you don't have some initial string lying around already.

You can also save scum to till you get some high number of string (like 8) per trip. The "increase your tools" tip is golden though. Think I had mine lowered to 2 per cloth at that point. Don't think you'll be able to get 66 tools (at the point you get that quest) on your first playthrough but i'm positive you can get it to 2 string per cloth because I did.

As far as I remember, you get that quest in either 8 or 9 chapter, and as stated aquiring 66 tools in chapter 8 is possible. Still, even 2 strings per cloth should be big help.

I used a lot of string previous to make rainbow string for enhancing armor and ran out.

Maybe I am just not understanding but does save scum mean keep playing the area I go to get the string and reload until it gives me 8 one time?

Here is how I sometimes do it (it works with random stats on lvl up, item that monster drop, or things from excavation/harvest):
0. Get all the excavation/harvest points from the map (actually it doesn't need to be all of them, but the more the better).
1. Save the game.
2. Withdraw/Kill the enemy.
If results aren't satisfying:
3. Load
4. End turn.
5. Withdraw/Kill the enemy.
If results still aren't satisfying then repeat from 3.

Of course point 0. is only for excavation/harvest purposes.
