Technical problems related solely to your computer's hardware/software are not included.
Read and download the necessary files (patch, broccoli 1.10 patch, movies, font is included in the patch). Just install the Consolas font first if your computer doesn't have it already. This font is necessary for the English patch.
XP: Someone who uses XP and frequently plays Japanese games should enlighten on this. Your computer must have Japanese language support installed and you must have support for non-unicode programs set to Japanese. There is also applocale but if your computer settings are able to support Japanese programs there is no need for it.
Vista: Because it sucks, turn off User Account Control. To do this go to your start menu and type msconfig in the field and click the first entry that appears. Then click on the tools tab, scroll to "Disable UAC" and click launch. Reboot and User Account Control will be off. Next go to your control panel. For simplicity sake click on classic view and go to Regional and Language Options. Click on the administrative tab and change the first option, "Current language for non-unicode programs", to Japanese. This will also require a restarting of your computer.
7: Relatively the same as Vista. Of course if you do said changes listed for Vista and have errors, just reboot when I mention rebooting. No point in easily preventable errors.
You should be ready to install the game. Insert your Galaxy Angel DVD or disc 1 into your computer and launch it.
This will lead you to the following screen. If you see gibberish for text instead of Japanese, you already did something wrong:
Click the highlighted button. This will lead you to:
Click next (N)>:
Pretend to agree:
Pick the highlighted option and click next:
Choose your directory. If you're fine with the default path click next, if not click on (R)...:
Choose 640x480 movies, unless you like pixelated movies. Click next afterwards:
Bottom option. We like bigger numbers:
Control Panel directory. This is also what shows when you go to uninstall the game from the control panel:
Welcome to the boring part. Wait for it to install. For those using the CD version, insert the next CD when prompted:
Click that, bam, done, almost.
Now that you have installed the game you are not ready to play it. Wait what? Yes, patches. Take your official 1.10 patch by Broccoli and throw it into your Galaxy Angel directory, then launch it. When it's done open up the English patch and extract the Galaxy Angel Folder contents into your Galaxy Angel directory (that is, Ga_starter and Iks2DGrp.dll into the main directory, and the Dat files into the Dat folder overwriting all files it needs to). Next open up the movies patch and toss them all into the dat folder, overwriting all files necessary. If you ever need to uninstall the game and want to play it again later then leave the 1.10 official Broccoli patch in the directory. Some files remain when you uninstall the game and it will be convenient rather than needing to download it again.
Now create a shortcut to GA_Starter.exe. With this you can either choose fullscreen or windowed, as well as choose a custom resolution.
You should now be able to play the game, that is unless I missed something.
